Guide
A free Bible app with no ads
Short answer
Offline Bible is free, shows no ads, needs no account and installs from your browser on any phone or computer. It carries the KJV, WEB and ASV in full, with search, reading plans and bookmarks that work with no connection.
What to check in a free Bible app
| Question | Offline Bible |
|---|---|
| Does it show ads? | No ads anywhere. |
| Does it need an account? | No. Bookmarks and progress stay on your device. |
| Does it work with no connection? | Yes, every chapter of a saved translation. How. |
| Which translations are complete? | KJV, WEB and ASV, all 66 books. |
| Can I search? | Yes, words, phrases and references, offline. Search. |
| Reading plans? | Four, with daily check-offs. Plans. |
| How big is it? | About 0.9 MB to download a translation, about 4.1 MB stored. |
| Can I take the text with me? | Yes, plain text downloads of each translation. |
| What does it record about me? | Page-view counts with no cookies. No reading history leaves the device. Privacy. |
Why it is free
The three texts are in the public domain, so there is no license fee to cover, and the site is static pages served from a content network, which costs little to run. There is nothing to sell inside it.
A web app instead of a store app
Offline Bible installs from the browser rather than an app store. It needs no store account, takes far less space than most store apps, updates itself, and works the same on iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac and Chromebook. The trade-off: it has no audio Bible, and translations under copyright, such as the NIV or ESV, are not available.
